In the city of Përmet on March 23rd, 1885 was born the patriot journalist Paskal Aleksi. In May 1904, he immigrated to the United States and was committed in the patriotic movement. He was one of the initiators of the establishment and active member of the patriotic society “Vellazeria Shqiptare” and then of the society “Besa-Bese” of Hudston. In 1908, he went to Sofia and joined the çeta of Bajo Topulli, who fought for the liberation of the country. In March 1920, together with the musical band “Vatra” and the ward of the armed volunteers of Albanian immigrants, he came to Albania to help the Government established in the Congress of Lushnja. They all together participated in the War of Vlora. After returning to US he was elected a delegate to the assemblies of “Vatra”, member of the committee and it’s National Council. At the same time he directed the society in Përmet “Vjosa”. In January 1926, he returned to Albania and was committed with the sale of books and publications of “Vatra.” That year he shot with our consul in Boston Gjergji Prifti, the first documentary, with images of Albania that was shown in the United States. In 1929, he returned to the United States, where he died in 1966.
