In Shkodra, on August 3, 1859, was born the engineer, poet and patriot Filip Shiroka. For his patriotic activity and participation in the event of 1878-1881, he was forced to exile abroad. Initially he lived and worked in Egypt and later in Lebanon, where he was recognized as a talented railway engineer. In Homeland, Filip Shiroka became acquainted with poetical and journalistic creativity. Most of his literary works are included in the volume “Zani i Zemrës”, which came out in 1935 when the author came to Albania for the last time. Philip Shiroka’s work is known for his national consciousness and pride, his feelings of money expressed in a sweet and pure language.
