Today is commemorated the first president of modern Turkey, Mustafa Qemal Ataturk. He was born in an Albanian family in Thessaloniki, in 1881. He finished the military school and took part in the Young Turk Revolution, which forced Abdyl Hamid, to proclaim the constitution in 1908. In 1920, he led the revolution that ousted the sultan and declared the country republic. By the name of this great Albanian, are associated a series of reforms that turned Turkey into a modern and advanced state. The Ataturk passed away on November 10th, 1938.
