In the letter that Pope Calixtis III sent to George Castriot with the Albanian Ambassador Gjergj Peter on September 11, 1457, in response to the request of our National Hero for Assistance to face the devastating campaigns undertaken by Ottoman hordes in Albania, reported that he had charged Johan Navarin, from church fees collected in Dalmatia, one third of them spent for the war’s needs, Skanderbeg.
