In Nivica of Kurvelesh on March 17th, 1863 was born the patriot Asim Dino. In 1907, he immigrated to the United States and joined with the patriotic movement there. He was one of the first activists of the patriotic society established across the Ocean, the initiators of the establishment of the Albanian Federation “Vatra” that has played a major role in the social and political life of the largest colony of the Albanian immigrants outside the country. For its activities, he was elected chairman of the branch of “Vatra”, in New Bedford, United States and directed it for many years.
