On March 20th, 1592, Lek Matranga concluded, the Albanian translation of the catechism ” E mbesuame e kërshtere “. This is one of the first translations in our language that we know so far. Lek Matranga is the oldest arbëresh author arbëresh. He was born in Hora of Arberesh of Sicily on 1560. After finishing his studies at a religious college in Rome he returned to his village, where he served as a priest. The Catechism albanianized and published by him has a great importance for the document of an old phase of arbërore language. In this volume is included a poem, which is the first Albanian poetry known to date.
