Albania’s first city that raised the Albanian flag and declared the independence was Elbasan. On November 25th, 1912, Elbasan patriots, liberated their town from five centuries occupation and declared it part of free independent Albania.Their example was followed from the other cities of central Albania: Durres, Tirana, Kavaja, Peqin, Lushnja.
