On 5 February is commemorated the anniversary of the birth of the doctor and democrat patriot Omer Nishani. He was born in Gjiorokastra, where finished the primary education. He finished the High school and the faculty of medicine in Istanbul. Took part in the Revolution of June 1924 and after its suppression, for 15 years he lived in exile. He collaborated with Halim Xhelo for the publication of “Liria komëtare” newspaper. He died in 1954.
