Following the law on lifting the foxes, on June 15, 1937, the law on the head covering, which obliged men to wear hats and bats, came into effect. Today, these appear to be ridiculous, but for the time they were steps towards the Europeanization of society, which had emerged from the 5th century Ottoman rule.
