On August 20, 1988, died the general Zija Kambo, a prominent activist of the National Liberation War, “People’s Hero”. In his youth, he participated in several assassinations and actions against the fascist invaders; he was listed on the ranks of the “Fuat Babani” battalion and was appointed commander of the company. In the liberation battle of Tirana, he was brigadier commander and member of the Operational Staff. In 1959, he was promoted to the general and was awarded the title of “People’s Hero”.
