Did you know that wearing the plis for the Albanian was prohibited by law in 1938?

Few people know that in 1938 was a law that punished with a huge fine those citizens who wore national fez on their head. Albanians have wore the plis through centuries. It still continues to be preserved this tradition in different areas of Albania and Kosovo. Even today plis is transformed in a kind of powerful symbol that identifies Albanians. In the “official notebook” Nr.81, dated on October 19th, 1938, are published several royal decrees that prohibited the keeping of plis. But neither the law of the time, neither time itself could not dissolve this beautiful Albanian tradition!
