Prizren is rarely ever filled with photographs of Marubi. A good part of the archive from the Marubi National Museum has been reactivated through the streets and walls of the historic city. By creating an exhibition on open air, young people are committed to adapting the images of Marubi by climbing the walls of Prizren. Rewarded as a gift to the city, this was part of this program at the 16th edition of Dokufest projected in cooperation with the National Museum of Photography in Shkodra. The organizers said that “Marubi x DokuPhoto” aims to bring the dynasties of the most important Albanian families and not only to the city premises. Marubi’s photo archive captures and documents events from the troubled history of Albania (1856-1959) and includes fascinating photographs of various public events, social rituals, insurgencies in the highlands covering historical, sociological, cultural and anthropological views. A selection of photos taken from the vast collection of the 500,000 negative museum, representing three generations of photographers, was presented through various activities throughout the festival.
Guided by artist Ergin Zaloshnja, participants reshaped archive images on the walls of Prizren on the second day of the workshop, using the sticker art method, creating an open exhibition. In this case, the museum director, Lučenan Bedenin, presented the latest projects of a “museum that changes a city” as a continuation of the Marubi mission. “This was achieved through various programs that, on the one hand, bring closer to the history of the first Albanian studio photography, and on the other seek to sensitize the younger ones who view photography as a daily communication tool to the importance To preserve the values of this inheritance and to transmit them to future generations “. On other days it is thought that young people will arrive in the museum’s collection through exploring the themes on the last two exhibitions
‘Manipulation’ and ‘Long live!’. Guided by Blerta Hocia artist, they will use details, magnify images, and collage to express their vision. The coronation of DokuFest and Marubi’s co-operation will also be the video-mapping exhibition of the museum’s collection, which will turn the surface of a central Prizren building into a dynamic photo exhibition.
