The Catholic Church in Albania hosted three new bishops appointed by Pope Francis. For the diocese of Sapa, the Holy Father Bergoglio appointed bishop, the current diocese administrator, Fr Simon Kulli; For the Rrëshen diocese, the Pope appointed bishop Don Gjergj Meta, the current general viceroy of the Tirana-Durres Archbishop; For the Apostolic Administration of the South, he was appointed bishop of Barnabas, missionary in Milot, that of Giovanni Peragine.
Vatican Radio reported that the needs in the respective diocesan churches were met, where current bishops have reached retirement age. The appointment of the new bishops was announced at 12.00 in the Vatican and in the respective diocesan headquarters.
From the new bishop’s appointments it is noticed that the Catholic Church of Albania is slowly passing through the hands of the first local callings in the priesthood. Two of the young bishops are succulents of that land of the Church, washed with the blood of martyrs, whose fruit is already visible and can be touched by hand.
But even in the image of the new South Bishop, the Church’s close relationship with the dedicated missionaries, for whom Albania has become the second homeland and the country of cooperation in the joint mission of spreading the Good News of the Gospel in Albanian lands .
We can not remember the late Bishop of Sapa, my lord Lucian Avgustini, beloved by the faithful, but also the recently retired bishops: Ms. Hil Kabashi for the Apostolic Administration of the South and Monsignor Cristoforo Palmieri for the Rrëshen diocese. They give the young bishops a precious spiritual, ecclesiastical, social and national treasure.
This appointment by Pope Francis is a further blessing for the Catholic Church in Albania, “RV concludes.
