The whole Albanian world celebrates today the anniversary of Father Shtjefen Gjecov (real name: Mhill Kostandin Gjeci-Kryeziu), outstanding clergyman, archaeologist, ethnographer and writer. He was born on 12 July 1874. He was educated at the Troshan Catholic College in Lezha and then in Bosnia. Throughout his life, the Spiritual Father and the ardent patriot remained. In 1906, in Kurbin, he defended the freedom fighters in Gomsiq of Mirdita in 1909-1912, he was one of the organizers of the anti-Ottoman uprising and ranked in the hands of the freedom fighters in 1914, opposed the barbarians of Austro-Hungarian invaders , In 1920, participated in the epoch for the liberation of Vlora from the Italian invaders, while in Zara, Dalmatia, Peja, Gjakova and elsewhere fought the Albanian-speaking nationalization and Albanian culture. These attitudes were killed by Belgrade agents in the Gjakova Zyme in 1929.
