In Gjirokastra, on November 15th, 1925, was born the geologist engineer, pedagogue and prominent professor Zihni Sinoimei. He was educated at Korça Lyceum and Shkodra High School and graduated at the University of Leningrad (now St Petersburg) for geochemistry. He was the first geologist of the State Committee of Geology. After a two-year specialization in Moscow, he worked in the Central Laboratory of Geology. With the establishment of the University of Tirana, he begins his pedagogical career on training of professional staff for the Albanian geology. Has left many scientific articles, monographs and studies that reflect the great experience and achievements in work and geological exploration, of which he couldn’t stay away until the end of life.
