On March 6th, 1937, the Albanian Parliament adopted the Law “On the prohibition of the face covering”. Article 1 of this law, states: “The women are prohibited to cover the face. Who will broke the law will be punished with fines up to 500 gold francs”. According to the second article the spouses or the guardians of the women who will broke the law will be punished with fines of up to 20 gold francs to 1000 and the prohibition of the public posts for 1 to 3 years. In case of repetition, the person will be sentenced with imprisonment. The printing of that time has considered the adoption of the law as the beginning of “the main reform that purports to glorify the Albanian woman”.
