It is commemorating today the Homeland, the anniversary of the fall of the martyr of the National Liberation War, the youth militant, “The People’s Hero”, Misto Mame. He was born in Erind in Gjirokastra, in 1921, where he received his first lessons. He participated in anti-fascist demonstrations and actions. At the helm of Tirana’s guerrilla unit, he ran a lot of bold actions, including the burning of the genius depot near the capital, where the fire lasted for 48 hours and the damage was estimated at 5 million francs. He fell into unequal struggle with the Italian fascists on August 16, 1942.
