“Bashkimi”
In January, 1899, on the initiative of the Abbot, Preng Doçi, in Shkodra was created the society “Bashkimi”, in which gave their own support for the Albanian language and culture eminent personalities as: Gjergj Fishta, Luigj Gurakuqi, Ndoc Nikaj, Anton Xanoni, etc. The society developed its own alphabet and published several dictionaries, textbooks and religious.
