Once, the Laci Church was one of the most cherished, most attended churches. Then there remained only a smooth rock from the lips of the believers who left there, thousands of prayers, out of their hearts, the Vatican Radio writes in an article. So the dry rock became a symbol of hope and stamina.
Communist power used all possible means to eradicate the memory of Albanians from that sacred place. And from hearts, one of the most beloved Saints of the Christian world.
But neither propaganda, nor threats, nor the police and the soldiers lined up, were unable to stop the long, ongoing procession of Albanians that year after year, especially on June 13, went to honor the Holy Remembrance and to seek help his.
The scholars of this unprecedented phenomenon in the midst of the terror of communist Albania have not yet managed to explain this mystery: a bloodthirsty regime was broken in the face of a Holy One.
And even in the face of the will of the people, to openly testify to one of the most famous Saints in the history of the Catholic Church. In that failure, no doubt, was the divine spirit, which seemed and was limited by virtue of its divine power, irresistible to the earthly powers, expressed through the miracles of the “Holy of miracles”.
A ruined church, always standing: Laçi
The Franciscans came to Albania about 1241, ten years after the ascension of the prominent Portuguese, who with His cult became a guide of the Albanians on the way to Christ. Between several Churches devoted to the saint, they also built the Shna Ndout church in Sebaste, a church that was erected around 1300 and was demolished in 1971. Many churches were served in this church, including Father Shtjefën Gjeçovi, Father Mati Prenushi, Father Klement Miraj, Mr Robert Ashta, Father Zef Pllumi …
Today, the beautiful church, rebuilt on the hill of Laç, waits for people of all faiths, witnesses of miracles …
A miracle, among many others … (Delimited by a Testimony)
In 1981, a group of soldiers from Dojo dropped an order to go to the Shna Ndout hill in Laç to overthrow the remainder of the siege. The impression was that the government was afraid of the ruins. The building collapsed in the infamous 1967, when the communist regime went openly in the mejdan square against the Church.
And, of course, even against Sharon Ndout. Silent rifle duel with urate! But in vain tried to wait for the faithful. A mysterious spirit attracted so much that they could cope with the dictatorship, which began to be seriously concerned about this phenomenon. From there, the soldiers of the area ordered to blow up the walls, with them, to forfeit the memories of the chapel and the Shenna Ndout.
After demolishing part of the siege, 32 platoon soldiers remained, strangely, paralyzed from the middle and the bottom. It was an inexplicable phenomenon. They remained frozen, there, on the wall, where they came and took them quickly. It was no longer about to eradicate some ruins. Every trace of a vibrant, tangible miracle had to disappear, which, despite the care of the government, and as any forbidden news, immediately took hold. People’s power started off some of the soldiers for medication in Austria for 6 months, while others at the Military Hospital in Tirana.
Soldiers rose again after many medications. But always with obvious consequences. The phenomenon remained inexplicable. The government did its best to justify the event, claiming it was food poisoning, but this diagnosis was never scientifically proven. The story remained to this day, clothed with mystery. Recorded among many other miracles, in popular memory. How good it would be to remember someone and collect the miracles of Laç in a book dedicated to Saint, from grateful Albanians.
